Hi Carers Group,
My aging parents care for my sister and her son in their home in Melb.
My sister has complex MI involving psychosis and substance use - it has been a long journey.
I want to connect my parents to Carers Support in their community or at least somewhere in Melbourne. I think they would
benefit from group meetings. However, perhaps there are other support options members of the forum are aware of?

Hi @SuzieStevie,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing.
That's lovely that your parents are caring for your sister and their grandson, though I can only imagine how stressful that could be at times. So, it's great that you are trying to find some supports for them with how demanding a caring role can be. It shows how much you care for your family.
I'm not familiar with carer supports in Victoria or near Lower Plenty, but have done a bit of research for you and hopefully some of these links can be of some use:
Banyule Carer Support Group @ Watsonia Neighbourhood House
https://tandemcarers.org.au/Web/Web/Support/Metro-Melbourne.aspx
Carer Support Program @ Banyule Community Health
https://bchs.org.au/services/social-support/carer-support/
Mind Australia - Support for carers

And it's also worth becoming a member and signing up to the following:
Carers Victoria

Carer Gateway

I hope they can find the support that they need.
Wishing you all the best and take care,

Hey there @SuzieStevie ,
Welcome to the forums. Thank you for posting and sharing what's been going on for you.
Have you ever used the carer support directory? https://www.carersvictoria.org.au/how-can-we-help-you/connect/carer-support-groups
This may help your parents connect with other carers.
It's great to see you reach out. We can see how concerning it can be, particularly as we read your parents are aging.
We hope you find this forums space a helpful place to connect with others.
